How It Works
Drop Off Your Duffel Bag!
Students are provided a laundry duffel as well as a separate dry cleaning and special-care items only bag along with instructions for the Wash/Dry/Fold and dry cleaning and special-care items. Central laundry chutes are located just outside of each mail room on Grounds. Service includes once-weekly cleaning each week of the academic year while class is in session.
Pick Up Clean Laundry!
Cleaned clothing will be delivered for pick up to assigned mail rooms on Grounds during normal operating hours. The student will receive an email from Mail Services when clothing is available for pick up. Come to the mail room, freshly laundered clothing will be neatly folded in duffel.
*Dry cleaning and special-care items will be pressed and on hangers.
*Please note, if you have dry cleaning and special-care items, they will be packaged separately from your laundry duffel. Be sure to ask for both bags.

Dry Cleaning & Special Care Items
UVA students dress sharp and always look their best! We are here to help. Although dry cleaning is not included in our Laundry Service Plans, a separate dry cleaning and special-care items only bag is provided. This allows students to determine if and when they need dry cleaning and special-care items services. All dry cleaning and special-care items are charged on a price per piece basis. Examples of dry cleaning and special-care items include: silk, wool, rayon, sweaters, jerseys, fleece, hand wash, and line dry garments. These items are picked up and delivered on the same schedule as the laundry service duffel bags.
A credit card is required to be on file to cover dry cleaning / special care charges.

How much does a typical load weigh?
We will weigh your laundry upon check in at our location. A typical laundry load weighs 8-10lbs. The average person will wear about 15-18lbs of laundry in a week. Add in towels and you land at an average of 20lbs. But what is average? Keep in mind, we weigh clothes when they are dry, at their lightest weight. If you dry-clean a majority of your clothes, you may only have 10lbs per week and if you're active, you may have up to 30lbs.
What is the process?
Whether you use one of our 3 convenient locations or our Free Home Pick Up and Delivery just place your dirty Wash-Dry-Fold items in a reusable Wash Dry and Fold bag. Our laundry professionals will wash, dry and neatly fold everything. Place any dry cleaning or special care items in your separate Dry Cleaning / Special Care Bag.
How do I place my first order?
Just select “Sign Up Now.” You can purchase a laundry subscription plan or on-demand. Place your 1st order in any sealed bag you choose, just be sure to place your name inside the bag so we know who it belongs to. We’ll return it in a reusable Wash & Fold bag with your name on the new bag for your future orders.
How do I prepare my laundry?
You do not need to sort your laundry. We handle all preparation before the wash including sorting, checking pockets, and checking for stains. All you need to do is place your clothes in a bag, we’ll handle the rest.
What kind of detergent do you use?
We use a very high-quality commercial low to no scent Mega-Pur detergent from Seitz. We do not use fabric softeners.
Can I put anything I want to wash in the bag?
You can place anything that would typically go into a washing machine. We call this everyday laundry such as shirts/t-shirts, pants/shorts, sweatshirts, socks/underwear, towels, linens, and sheets. Items that require dry cleaning, special care such as pressing, air drying etc should NOT be placed in your Wash, Dry & Fold bag. Rather please request a separate Dry Cleaning / Special Care Bag for those items Examples of dry cleaning and special-care items include: silk, wool, rayon, sweaters, jerseys, fleece, hand wash, and line dry or lay flat to dry garments. These pieces will be charged on a per piece basis.
How big is the bag?
Our Wash & Fold bags are approximately 30-gallon nylon bags that hold approximately 30 lbs of laundry.
How will I know the total cost?
University Cleaner’s Wash, Dry, and Fold prices are by the pound. See you specific plan for pricing details. For example, On Demand prices are $3.00 per pound with a 10 pound minimum. Subscription plans are priced by the plan up to a select pound level. Once reached subscription plans overages are charges at the $3.00 per pound rate.
Is there a minimum order size for Wash & Fold?
If you are an “On Demand” customer, there is a 10 lbs minimum order size for Wash, Dry & Fold items. If you are a on a monthly subscription plan you can send in any size order.
How do you weigh my laundry?
We weigh your laundry as soon as it comes in, before any washing.
How will my laundry come back?
Our team will neatly fold your freshly cleaned items and nicely package them drawer ready. Your beautifully folded laundry is secured in air-tight plastic bags to help maintain the integrity of the folding.
When do I get my laundry back?
If you brought your laundry into a store, we'll have it ready in three business days. If you used our free delivery service, we'll bring it back to your home on your next scheduled route day.
Can you wash by hand or hang dry?
Yes, we can do this but that is considered a dry cleaning / special care item and will be billed separate on a per piece basis.
What happens if I go over the plan?
No problem. For every pound you go over the subscription plan your account is charged the on demand price.
Does my unused poundage rollover?
Unfortunately, no. However, if you are planning a trip and will be missing a pickup simply send in double for your next service. Every order is weighed and subtracted from your prepaid poundage limit.
I no longer need service how do I opt out?
We would hate to see you leave. However, if you must, log in to your account and opt out of your subscription. Please note that subscriptions are for the full month. You may opt out at any time during your subscription. However, if you opt out before your month is up and choose not to use your remaining pickups you forfeit your remaining subscription and will not be given a prorated refund.
Can you deliver freshly cleaned laundry to my door?
We currently offer free pick-up and delivery in Lexington, Buena Vista, Staunton and parts of Waynesboro. Please call to verify you are in our delivery service area.
How do I pay for my cleaning?
Services will be charged directly to the credit/debit card you have on file.
Are dry cleaning, laundered shirts or special care items included?
These plans are only for wash, dry & fold orders. Dry cleaning, laundered shirts, or special care are charged per piece as part of our dry cleaning service.
Can I put dry cleaning items in with my everyday laundry?
No, we ask that you place that items in a separate Dry Cleaning Special Care Bag.
Is there anything you can’t clean?
Yes, For the protection of our staff and other customer’s laundry we cannot clean items that have been contaminated with:
- Bodily fluids from a human or pet
- Excessive pet hair
- Mildew
- Household Pests (Bedbugs, Cock Roaches, Fleas or Ticks)
- Hazardous chemical residue including oil and grease rags
Orders containing these items will be returned un-laundered to the customer.
