What began in 1951 as a small dry cleaning shop in Lexington, Virginia, has grown into one of the Shenandoah Valley’s most trusted names in garment and textile care. For over seventy years, University Cleaners has served families, students, and businesses with a commitment to quality, honesty, and personal service – values that have guided us from the start.

Today, under the ownership of Chad and Melissa Mayr (and their 4 children), proud transplants from Texas who have made the Valley their home, our family-owned business continues to honor that legacy. We’ve embraced modern conveniences like free pickup and delivery, mobile scheduling, and text updates, while keeping the same neighborly care that has earned us the community’s trust and the title of Best Dry Cleaner in the Shenandoah Valley two years in a row.
